Our Story

Let's work together to tell the Tortuga story.

Let's find companies that share our values and our vision for a company whose brand is more than the sum of it's products.

And when we find these companies let's embrace the way they use design to tell their story.

We should not attempt to reinvent the wheel. From a user's perspective the familiar is desirable. Designers will despair at this thought, but a more holistic approach will see that these constraints open opportunities elsewhere.

True innovation comes in how we communicate with our audience. What are the words that show we understand their problems? What do they value and how do we convey that we share these values? How do we make a lasting connection?

A beautiful design is nothing more than vanity if it doesn't make this connection. Sales are not the end but the beginning of a long-term relationship. Sales reinforce trust in the next sale instead of asking for another leap of faith. Trust comes through solving problems customers know they have and surprising them by anticipating problems they didn't know they'd have.

This can only be achieved by a continuity of experience from product design to marketing to customer service, and a deep understanding of the job to be done. Every point of contact must reinforce a consistent message. And this can only happen if everyone communicating this message is on the same page.

We must first share a consistent vision so that decisions can be made with the understanding that we're all pulling in the same direction. When we have doubt as to whether our actions are moving us in that direction we should welcome feedback from the team.

Transparency is a virtue. There should be no surprises. Feedback should be given as soon as possible to avoid wasting time pursuing dead ends.

We should listen to our customers, but we should not let their demands take us off course. We should understand that testing and optimization are tools that allow us to refine our message, not to change it to suit the whims of our customers.

We should inspire our customers as much as they inspire us.

So let's to do this.

Let's encourage people to get out of their comfort zones.

Let's make getting out of your comfort zone as comfortable as possible.

Let's take the pain out of travel.
